Hot Aır Balloonıng
There’s nothing quite like it: you get up before dawn, climb into an all-terrain vehicle and set out for the launch site. As the sky lightens, you watch a pile of fabric the size of a small car become a huge, graceful balloon. Standing in the basket beneath, your pilot turns a valve, flames roar upward into the void, and you lift off into the chill morning air to float across the Cappadocian landscape just as the warming sun makes its way above the horizon. If you’ve never taken a flight in a hot-air balloon, Cappadocia is one of the best places in the world to do it. Flight conditions are especially favorable here, with gentle winds most days between April and November. The views are simply unforgettable.

How to prepare a Turkish Coffee
Turkish Coffee (Türk Kahvesi) is not only a drink but also a ritual. Since it has been introduced to the western world by Turks in 16th century it is known as Turkish coffee, although coffee is not grown in Turkey. Turkish coffee drunk after meals and/or especially as “morning coffee” by housewives at 11 o’clock (but definitely not at breakfast) is served in small porcelain cups resembling espresso cups.
It is traditionally prepared in a small copper pot called cezve. It is made by mixing an extremely finely ground coffee with water and sugar. They are all heated together at the same time and when the liquid boils coffee, Kahve is ready to be served.
According to your taste, you should let the hostess/waiter know in advance how much sugar you want in it: coffee is served as sade (without sugar), az sekerli (a little sugar), orta (medium sugar) and sekerli (sweet). While drinking you should leave the coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup, so sip the coffee lightly. Don’t forget all festive meals always end with a cup of Turkish coffee. And if you are lucky you can find someone you can read your fortune from the grounds of coffee.

However the hubble-bubble completed its evolution in Anatolia when brought in the 17th century and has become a very important part of coffee house culture has not changed its style for the last few hundred years. The traditional arts (Ebru & Calligraphy)
Ebru : We don’t know exactly on which date the art of marbling started. We know that it originated from the Central Asia (Turkestan), the center of the civilisation with 100 centuries of history and spread over the world. The word Marbling in Turkish EBRU derives from the word EBRE in one of the older Central Asia languages which means “moire, veined fabric, paper etc.” used for covering holy books and others. Through Silk Road this art came first to Iran where it was called EBRU (cloud, cloudy) or ABRU (Water face). Subsequently this art moved towards Anatolia and named after EBRU in Turkish language. About the end of XVI. century tradesmen, diplomats and travellers coming to Turkey brought this art to Europe and called it “TURKISH PAPER”. It was broadly used in Italy, Germany, France and England. Marbling had a significant importance in Islamic art.Guests will have the opportunity to produce their own marbling sketches. It is a 2 hour activity.
Calligraphy : We can organize a calligraphy workshop where the participants can learn the basic rules of the traditional Ottoman calligraphy art. The workshop could be organized in Caferaga Medresesi which is the educational center for traditional arts.

The clothes that the bride’s family had bought for the groom would be sent to the Guve Hamami and the groom would bath, shave and dress, ready for the big event. ST IRENE
St.Irene, which is one of the largest and oldest Byzantine churches other than Hagia Sofia, was commissioned in the year 330 by Emperor Constantine the Great. The church takes its name from a saint who was at that time working for the spread of Christianity. A group of pagans tried to kill Saint Irene by first throwing him into a well full of snakes and later dragging him over the ground while stoning him. But in spite of the pagan’s effort, Irene miraculously did not die. Upon witnessing these supernatural occurrences, the majority of the pagans converted to Christianity and Irene became a saint in the eyes of the people. Emperor Constantine, who propagated Christianity as the single religion of the Roman Empire, named his church after this saint.

SIRKECI STATION
Istanbul Sirkeci (Turkish: ‘Sirkeci Garı’) is a terminus main station of the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) in Sirkeci, on the European part of Istanbul, Turkey. International, domestic and regional trains running westwards depart from this station which was inaugurated as the terminus of the Orient Express. After the Crimean War, the Ottoman authorities concluded that a railway connecting Europe with Istanbul was necessary. The first contract was signed with Labro, a British member of parliament, in January 1857. The contract was cancelled three months later because Labro was unable to provide the investment capital required. Similar second and third contracts signed with British and Belgian entrepreneurs in 1860 and 1868 ended with the same result. On April 17, 1869, the concession for the “Rumeli Railroad” was awarded to Baron Maurice de Hirsch (Moritz Freiherr Hirsch auf Gereuth), a Bavaria-born banker from Belgium. The project foresaw a route from Istanbul via Edirne, Plovdiv and Sarajevo to the shore of the Sava River. The construction of the first 15 km from Istanbul to Halkalı began on June 4, 1870 and was completed on January 4, 1871. An extension of the line to Sirkeci was demanded as the starting point since Yeşilköy was too far away from Eminönü, the main business district of that epoch. The first proposed option for the line was a route from Beyazit down to the shore of the Golden Horn. The Ottoman Sultan Abdülaziz decided and permitted the route to run on the shoreline of the Sea of Marmara bordering the walls of Topkapı Palace’s lower garden. The extension line was completed on July 21, 1872. In 1873, a “temporary” terminus station in Sirkeci was built.
