5 days of Cappadocia, Pamukkale & Ephesus

DAY 01: In the morning visit to the Anatolian Civilizations Museum at which numerous remnants from Stone Age, Neolithic Age, Hittites, Urartians, Phrygians and many others are on display; Mausoleum of Ataturk, the burial place of the national hero who founded modern Republic of Turkey. Then continue on to Cappadocia with lunch on the way. After a picturesque trip along the Salt Lake, arrive to Cappadocia for overnight

DAY 02: Optional balloon tour. Depart from the hotel and visit Kaymakli Underground City, the place early Christians hid from persecutors. After lunch continue to Open Air Museum in Goreme to visit to the early Christian churches decorated with unique frescoes depicting various scenes from the Bible. Drive to Pasabagiin Zelve area where monks used to live in seclusion in rock cut rooms. Proceed to the pottery town of Avanoswhere Kizilirmak (Hallys), the longest river of Turkey, meanders leaving the red clay on its banks that has been the raw material of pottery for centuries. Overnight at your hotel in Cappadocia.

DAY 03: Today’s ride will be fairly long and tiring due to the long distance between Cappadocia and Pamukkale and lack of convenient lodging location. Drive to visit to the 13th century Seljukian masterpiece Sultanhan Caravanserai and arrive in Konya. Lunch. Visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana, the world-wide famous mystic and then proceed to Karatay Theological School in which beautiful tiles are on display. After lunch time drive to Pamukkale and overnight.

DAY 04: Tour the beautiful snow-white “Cotton Castle” and the ruins of Hierapolis including the magnificently preserved cemetery “Necropolis”, the Main Street and Gates, the Thermal Baths, the Roman Theatre and the Museum. After lunch tour Aphrodisias, the city of Aphrodite; visit the Museum, the Temple of Aphrodite, the Theatre, the Stadium, the Agora, the Hadrian Baths, the Odeon, and the Bishop’s Palace. Proceed to the hotel in Kusadasi for overnight.

DAY 05: After breakfast, drive to Ancient City of Ephesus. Then proceed to House of Virgin Mary where she is believed to have spent the last days of her life. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Selcuk. After visiting the Selcuk Museum and Basilica of St. John, drive to Izmir airport.

3 days Cappadocia tour

DAY 01: Meet at Kayseri or Nevsehir Airport and proceed to Cappadocia. First visit Dervent and Pasabag valleys to see the rock formations called chimneys due to their peculiar shapes formed through volcanic eruptions and erosion. Then an extensive visit to Goreme Open Air Museum, with its 10th century churches cut out of soft rock; with beautiful interior frescoes. After lunch, a visit to the natural citadel of Uchisar, for a panoramic view of the region. Overnight in Cappadocia.

DAY 02: Optional balloon tour. After breakfast, visit Kaymakli Udnerground City established in the 7th century by Christians feeling persecution, in which a visitor is able to see to descend several floor levels. There are 8 floors of tunnels but 4 of them are open to visit. After lunch, visit Zelve, a troglodyte dwelling which was inhabited until quite recently. Proceed to valley of Cavusin, where the houses excavated in the skirt of a hill, display decorated facades. Overnight at hotel in Cappadocia.

DAY 03: After breakfast, transfer to the airport in Kayseri or Nevsehir
